Critically Acclaimed - ACCLAIMED, I say!

http://www.comicsworthreading.com/gn/sensualphrase.html

"I must make special note of the well-done translation and adaptation here. In this series, where the song lyrics are a major part of the story, the meaning comes through with all the innuendo intact. There's a judicious use of profanity as well, cutting through certain scenes to shock the reader in a way that makes the scenes more powerful. Turns of phrase impressed me with their layers of meaning and their realism as dialogue. If I didn't know better, I'd believe that this was originally written in English, it flows so smoothly."
Thank you, thank you.

Another SEXY VOICE Review

This one's on Comic World News.

From time to time, I’ll see a fan of North American comics express an interest in manga but not know where to start. It’s a tricky situation. There are more and more titles to choose from every week, and there are no guarantees of transferability of affection between, say, Scott Pilgrim (Oni) and Love Roma (Del Rey).

And there’s an unpredictability factor at work, too. Who would suspect that a dedicated fan of mainstream super-hero comics would find their entrée into manga via shojo? Or that an art-comix devotee would be crazy for Naruto (Viz)? But it happens.

It’s a perilous prospect, and I usually approach it with reluctance. But sometimes you just have to throw caution to the wind and make ridiculous blanket statements, because it’s my opinion that, if you like comics at all, you’ll probably like Iou Kuroda’s Sexy Voice and Robo (Viz).

More in link.

Oh, Kiriya!

I wonder if I should be embarrassed at how in touch I am with my inner-teenaged girl...? I'm working on KARE FIRST LOVE VOLUME 8 and I've got a lump in my throat! Poor Kiriya... I just want to... make him spaghetti or something. Where were guys like that when I was in high school, huh?

In fiction, that's where. Le sigh.

Anyway. Kaho Miyasaka has her own English site. I thought you all should know.

I love my job.

Also? I am still a dork.

Dorkus Emeritus

Welllll, I went to KCAI today to talk to the Creative Writing students about coming to do an internship with me. I got nervous, talked too fast, read too fast and generally came across as a giant freak, I think. Heh. Whoops.

I also forgot to name-drop -- which probably represents personal growth that I should celebrate, but doesn't do much to help convince young writers they should come work for me for free.

Alas! Well, fingers crossed.
