Big Sale at Fred Flare
Great sale at FredFlare.com:
All three of the Kate Spade books and Stitch 'n Bitch nation are marked down, plus a desperately cute Bambi top, a "Bellissima" top, etc. It looks like you're too late for the tinsel tree, but I snapped one up.
I'm tempted by the Kate Spade books. Has anyone actually seen them?

Help! To Me, My Knitters!
Okay, I screwed up: I brought my grandmother's slippers with me to finish knitting before Christmas. (Last minute, I know. Give me a break, I've been busy.) So, great, I'm almost done - just need to finish the cuff on the second slipper and...I seem to have forgotten the pattern insert that has the cuff pattern on it. I have NO IDEA how it got separated from the rest of the pattern but it did. I'm willing to repurchase it, but I can't find it available for download anywhere.
Anyone know of a site that has Fiber Trends' Felt Clogs for download? Or, does anyone have the cuff bit they'd be willing to share with me?

The Cult of the iPod
That's just nuts.
I'm trying to come up with a precident and I'm drawing a blank. Maybe the "Got Milk" campaign -- but that's a stretch.

Office Benches - Done!
Wellll, the carpenter is done, anyway. When we get back from Xmas, I need to sand, putty, prime, caulk and paint. THEN they'll be done. Wait, no, then I need to make the cushions. But THEN. THEN, they'll be done. Until then (click thumbnails for larger versions):
I know the phone mounted to the side of the bench isn't -- how you say -- "pretty," but believe me, it's more attractive than it was mounted to the wall. And I think once the benches are painted and the cushions made and the furniture back in, you won't even notice it.

Mobile WW
Weight Watchers International released a program this week for Palm-based gadgets that works hand-in-hand with the company's online services. It helps record a dieting disciple's progress, eliminates the need for carrying a weekly logbook and shrinks the 25,000-item food database that normally fits into a two-inch-thick reference book into a pocketable gizmo.
Hm. This might be enough to make me dig out that old palm of Fraction's...

First Day Off In More Than A Month, I Think

I did the unthinkable and took yesterday off, completely. Picked up the house a bit, did some laundry, made the meal plan and grocery list (shut up), ran errands - that sort of thing. I ordered a few gifts and even wrapped some. And in that filthiest of filthy-dirty indulgences, I did some shopping for myself -- DURING THE HOLIDAY SEASON! Eek! Avert your eyes! So! Naughty!
I picked up Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity and Fix-It & Forget-It Lightly : Healthy Low-Fat Recipes for Your Slow Cooker. I was mortified to find GTD was in the business section, but I'm not sure why, exactly. (I understand why it was there, just not why I was horrifed. I mean, I do run my own business, don't I?)
I fondled a few others -- most notably Stitch 'n Bitch Nation and Last-Minute Knitted Gifts. I opted against them because -- well, because I'm a good girl at heart. Also Debbie Stoller is coming to Rainy Day Books in January and I'd rather pick up SnBN then. And Last-Minute Knitted Gifts is on my Amazon wishlist, so maybe it'll turn up under the tree. Patterns that set my heart aflutter just flipping through? The Union Jack sweater and Joey Ramone doll in SnBN and the angora baby booties and felted yoga mat bag in L-MKG. Oy.
I also hit K-mart, where I almost tore a beautiful little feather tree right out of some man's arms in the check out line (pic and link above -- oh my god! It's only $10?! Why didn't I get one?? They come in white!). I also enlisted the help of a 7-year-old getting goodies out of a gumball machine. So it evens out, right?

Playing Catch-Up: RSS Aggregator
Ack! Okay, so many random bits of this and that I want to post. I think I'll do them all separately for ease of organization. Here we go, then...
I downloaded NetNewsWire this weekend and I LOVE IT. It's already cut my news browsing time in half, easily. The biggest problem? I now want feeds for a lot all my friends' blogs (all my regular reading for that matter).
Keith's got one, but I can't make it work for some reason. Is it an Atom issue? (I barely understand this whole thing.) I seem to have the same problem with Tony Hightower. I still need one for Lauren, too. And Jamie. And Corran. And a number of others.
I feel sure there must be a way to make them or a source to go to that's obvious to everyone else...? Educate me?

Ellis finds Nevada-tan Site
The story, an unprecedented and grisly murder, was printed in newspapers around the world. However, nobody could have anticipated what happened next. On the Japanese side of the Internet, a class picture was discovered, and two of the girls stood out. On the far left, wearing glasses and a green sweatshirt, Satomi stood grinning, giving a victory sign to the camera. Right next to her, with an inexplicable expression on her face, stood the killer -- Nevada.
... [die puny humans]
(This is a test; posting from NetNewsWire)
