Comments: Super-Size Me!

I am so glad you linked to this - I gave up fast food two years ago, shocking my contemporaries. People at the office (mostly young, stupid males) think I'm a snob for not indulging, but this really helps justify my position. Thanks.

This was an interesting article. But, it doesnt really prove that McDonalds food is bad, period.

A. This is one person's experience. B. Of course eating nothing but McDonalds is bad for you. If I ate chocolate cake or water or rhubarb 3 meals a day for a month I'd be sicker than shit too. Any sort of excessive consumption is likely to have ill effects on your body. Eat fast/junk food occasionally and you'll most likely be fine. I eat fast food once a week and I have low cholesterol and blood pressure, for whatever thats worth.

The French division of McDonalds is smart enough to say publicly that their food is not intended to be eaten as a staple of ones diet. Of course, this horrifies the american division, who wants their $ at any cost to public health.

So, yeah. Salud!

Of course it doesn't prove their food is poison -- I don't think the filmmaker ever claimed this was a controlled scientific experiment. Of course, you shouldn't eat the same food (or even at the same restaurant) every day.

However.

McDonald's has a near army of what they call "heavy users" -- people who eat at their restaurants more than 20 meals a month. The gentleman's experiment only follows that through.

And the *rate* of his deterioration, you have to admit, is stupifying.
