Just so there's no misunderstanding: the narration style is copped from The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. It wasn't a deliberate exercise, but there's no mistaking it.

I like it and I might want to keep playing with it to see if I can bring something of my own to it, but yeah--read The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time if you like the style.
