Hang in there, little tomato.
yo, get well, Hammysammich.
Poor guy! Any idea what brought them on? Were they dairy-ish calcium things?
The ONLY thing he eats is his kibble -- which is by Dr. Weil, I can't remember the name of it right now. Pet Promise, maybe...? We buy it at Wild Oats.
Pablo eats the same damned thing and seems to be fine.
Man alive. Fear of stones all up in my organs is probably the #1 reason why I drink roughly 2L of water daily at my job.
Some male cats are just more prone to urinary tract issues than others, I guess... our Dub had problems when he was young, and as a result both he and Kali have had to eat prescription food most of their lives (it's impossible to keep them from eating each others' food, so...)
Wishing Ham a speedy recovery!
poor kitten. my thoughts are with him and the family. (and ms. blosson is on point - kidney issues are common for toms and quite treatable. bentaro lived to 17, and he had bladder trouble since he was a kitten.)
Oh, no! Poor Ham. Here's to a speedy recovery!
Kidney stones are the most wretched thing ever. They are in the top five most painful medical conditions (along with bone cancer and ectopic pregnancy). I usually get an attack two or three times a year. I have the utmost sympathy for Hammy. Talk with the vet about making dietary changes to keep recurrences to a minimum. And buy one of those pet fountain type waterbowls...cats love them because the water stays fresher (and as such, they drink more)
I remember the post when you got little Hammy! Poor little guy. My wife and I just bought a "little" (36 lbs at 3 months) Bullmastiff puppy. We have a bunch of pics and video of the little monster on my blog if you're interested. Speedy recovery little Hammy, your cyberpuppy friend Manny feels for you!
