WRT Henry’s Sleeping and My OCD Record-Keeping

It’s really hard to track Henry’s sleeping and nursing at night. He sleeps with me and tends to nurse on and off when he wakes up, which he does often. So often, in fact, that I can’t see myself getting up and writing it down every time. I wonder if it’s time to put the telemetry on hold until we get to the point where we’re ready to put him on a regular sleep schedule?

Also, now that we’re satisfied that he’s getting enough to eat, is it necessary to track his nursing…? It seems like half-assed record keeping might be worse than none at all.

Also? I’m tired.

Hmmm, is there a specific benefit or concern in regards to keeping a record of his feedings? He’s obviously thriving and well, you’re tired. I applaud your efforts and determination to keep on track in regards to your OCD, heh. But? (How do I put this without coming off as one of those detestably smug advice dispensers?) But, one of the scariest and ultimately liberating realisations was when I acknowledged in my soul that my little creature now reigned supreme over all my previous compulsions. It’s not like he’s going to erase your inherent strivings towards order and accomplishment but it will be interesting, the balancing of what needs doing now, later, tomorrow and ohmygod, thankyouforhelping.

See? Smug, and I apologise sincerely. Meantime you appear blissfully blissful in your pics and he is One Gorgeous Baby and I wish you many more moments of letting go and dwelling in the moment, as they say.

I second Lolo. And my OCD tendencies speak for themselves. If’n Henry gets the flu or somesuch (which I hope he does not), it would be useful to track diapers, feedings, projectile vomiting… All the usual things. But when you’re tired and he’s healthy? Even I couldn’t keep it up!

Yeah, there were specific reasons to do it at first, but now that we know he’s getting enough to eat, there really isn’t a reason anymore — aside from overnight communication between Fraction and I. But even there, if the boy’s hungry, he’ll let us know.
