Please clarify what the heck a glider is? Because I'm imagining you're taking up hang gliding and you've moved all the stuff for your upcoming baby to one corner of the room so you can shove in a hang glider, which you'll then be using to take said baby on a thrill ride.

Say it isn't so??? LOL

Yeah, and oddly enough it doesn't get any less freaky when you're in the position of needing one.

I would love to be wrong and see that discussion turn into something specific about craft or the nature of autobio... but I suspect you have more faith in people than I do.

Well, the entire idea behind why I allowed it was to critically identify WHY people think those are bad... what structural issues, narative devices, etc. and try to have folks thinking about doing an autobio book think about the aforementioned issues so that they don't make the same mistakes

(or at the very least, make them in different, unique ways)

It's a dangerous line, trying to keep that kind of discussion on the side of helpful, but how it plays out will (hopefully) help define some of the 'does and don'ts" for folks

or maybe I'm just waving a big ol' shotgun around going 'wowee! this's SWELL!! Wunner what it does?!'

Le Sigh indeed.

My response to that thread was to gush about Jeffrey Brown the first chance I had.

It's surprising that still, after the periodic talk on every forum about how silly and negative the Internet is, people still love to tear things down. Where's the fun, especially if it's tearing down solo creators writing about themselves? How is Alison Bechdel or whoever possibly The Man?

RE: Housing. Thank gawd we're not moving anyday soon. We've lost money already on the condo, but it's not to worry. We figure it'll take a few years to recoup. In the meantime, it is a buyer's market.
