I was trying to upload an “I Voted” image and got this error: “Unable to create directory /home/kellysue/public_html/blog/wp-content/uploads/2006/11. Is its parent directory writable by the server?”
Anybody know how I go about checking?

This may sound like a foreign language, but do you use FTP software? If so, try browsing to the directory /home/[username]/public_html/wp-content/uploads/ and change the permissions to either “777″ or turning on “read”, “write”, and “execute”.
(I think I just lost you right there, didn’t I?)
If so… going back to the FTP software question, which program do you use?

ack! don’t do 777! 755 or 744 should do the trick. 777 allows anyone on the system to write to that directory. 755 allows just you to read, write, and execute while everyone else can just read and execute. 744 allows the same ting, except others can’t execute stuff (php scripts you may have in there, for instance).
